Friends and family keep asking for Outpost hats — I’m flattered. Going to place a big order today. Historically I’ve only given hats to annual subscribers, but f*ck it — there’s close to 100 of you that fork over $5 a month.

All paid subscribers — monthly or annual — get a Members hat. Today only.

Need: Wool Shawl (will settle for Vest)

In the 1970s, Robert Redford used his first big paycheck from what would go on to be an illustrious acting career to purchase 2 acres in the mountains of Utah and build a 500 sq. ft. cabin. The entire 60 Minutes clip is incredible, but one piece in particular has alluded me: the classic wool shawl. I think the iconic 3 stripes is the best color combination I’ve ever seen. I want to use it for Outpost in some capacity, TBD. I’ve looked for it in a blanket, but may settle for this vest from Drake’s.

Watched: Fuck Thats Delicous

Everyone knows we don’t do politics at Outpost — there’s plenty of that elsewhere — but regardless of how you feel about Zohran, this video by Action Bronson and the latest NYC mayor is incredible. I grew up on F*ck, That’s Delicious, and this put a smile on my face.

Read: Danny Meyer

Also looking forward to Danny Meyer’s latest book coming out in September, in his words highlighting the last 20 years after Setting the Table.

Setting the Table is a top 10 book regardless of your level of interest in hospitality. I’d say it’s a must. Pick it up and get it down before the new one drops in September.

Ate: GOOD

We’ve been eating good lately. Super excited for all that spring offers in New York City kitchens. Time to get out and eat. A few spots I’ve liked of late:

Thai Diner

I honestly can’t believe I hadn’t been to Thai Diner. Everything from the Disco fries to the crab rice and the frozen beer was awesome.

Quiqui Crudo

I’m late to this place, but Quiqui Crudo is probably my second favorite restaurant I’ve been to this year, maybe No. 1 — sorry, Deans. Every single dish hit, literally every single one. The guacamole was probably the best I’ve ever had, which is crazy to say, but it had a little kick to it and great chips. May go back this week.

Bottino

Lastly, went to Bottino last night. After Cucina Alba said no Dice (which is strange when did that become a tough res…) Anyways Bottino really punches above its weight in terms of Italian food. I think it’s also sneaky one of the prettier dining rooms in NYC. Between that take and saying that I thought the UES was overrated, my dinner guests had had enough of me, but I said what I said and I stand by it here today.

Ciao,
