Outpost writer and downtown commenter wrote a piece on the recent trend of women approaching men at bars — a trend we fully support.

Need: Cannondale Aluminum

I’ve always ridden carbon bikes, and I’ve always ridden Canyon — partly because they make excellent direct-to-consumer bikes.

However, Cannondale just released their aluminum CAAD (Cannondale Advanced Aluminum Design), the same platform that put them on the map back in the ’80s and has continued to entice riders away from the market standard of carbon with the tagline “Not carbon, not sorry.”

The thought of adding a second alloy silver bullet into the lineup is tempting. Fortunately for my impulsive behavior, they’re out of stock pretty much everywhere.

Read / Watched: Man on the Run

At this point there are very few Beatles documentaries I haven’t seen — with the exception of maybe Yellow Submarine, which I turned on for a few minutes before concluding I either (not in tandem) need to watch it with children or get high as a giraffe for proper viewing.

That said, when Amazon released Paul’s story starting from day one after the Beatles breakup — narrated by an older McCartney — documenting his life with Linda and the early Wings years, I was all in.

Watching him eventually figure things out and put together some really special albums is great.

The visuals of him in the hills of Scotland recording Ram, appropriately looking like a sheep herder in the ’70s, are worth the watch alone.

Ate: Overindulged

This week was a bit much. I find myself longing for spring, community, and less drinking — or at least a different style of drinking: glasses of wine with people you love as opposed to martinis at downtown it restaurants.

That said, undeniably there were some banger restaurants in the mix.

Peter Luger

I fear Luger’s may be losing its touch a bit. The food is phenomenal, but the atmosphere lacks something these days. It’s a trend I’ve tried to buck for years and will continue to go to the mecca — particularly now that it’s on Blackbird — but the influx of tourists changing what it used to be is undeniable.

Anton’s

Simply put: Anton’s rocks. Some of the simplest, heartiest food in the West Village.

Mắm

Down in Chinatown and recently named one of the Top 100 by the NYT, Mắm is serving banger after banger on plastic chairs. They had just stopped slinging pho for the season — which I’m dying to try — but the Vietnamese classics like chicken cartilage, prawns, scallops, and snails were all amazing.

Grab a bottle of sake from the liquor store on the corner and enjoy, especially as the weather starts getting nice.
