Truly could not ask for a better day.

The best shot goes to Clark Osborn. Not sure he missed a bird.

Best group goes to Howie Guja and his crew. Not sure they left the field all day, other than to slip back into the Ineos for refreshments, smokes, and, I believe, at one point, a quick snooze.

Speaking of snoozes, shout-out to the two souls who let Friday night get away from them a bit. In true Outpost fashion, both gents dialed up the Ubers and bombed down the Long Island Expressway in time for lunch and even a few birds.

Some traveled a bit further. I think everyone’s favorite duo at the hunt was Rodrigo and Alfonso, the team behind Basset and Hound, or “The Spaniards,” as this duo was most affectionately referred to. Whether it was for their shooting ability, devilishly good looks, or their ability to drink and smoke cigarettes, Europeans are built different.

Regardless of what you want to call them, they made sure everyone was dressed to the nines. If you missed out and want a vest etc. Drop us a note. Outpost is working on getting more of their incredible collection to the US.

Perhaps no one wears the line better than Alfonso’s cousin and her friends, all hailing from Madrid. When asked at midnight on Friday night if we had room at the table for six Spanish girls coming from the Big Apple, the answer was, “We’ll figure it out.”

I’m sure glad we did. They helped balance out the rest of us heathens.

On the artist side, balance was also brought in by the beautifully designed menus that Lanier Hicks and her studio put together on the one-yard line, as well as Thomas Huerta, who captured some incredible footage. I got a sneak peek last night… keep an eye out. Excited to continue to work with both these talented individuals.

Lastly, shout-out to Jeff Parot, Blade & Bow, the team at Hunter PR, but specifically Sophie, who has worked for months with us to coordinate this, Chef Chris, and, lastly, the team at Elite Island Outfitters, who took on this incredibly complicated hunt: 150 birds, 35 guys, 15 dogs, seven guides. No small feat.

Outpost is here to be a stage for those who create, but most importantly, it is a community first, bringing together like-minded folks from all different backgrounds: chefs, tailors, creators, bankers, artists. This table had it all.

It brings me great joy to be a small piece of the puzzle.

To many more.
