I started to put this into a Google Doc but figured this should be available to the public — an open guide to how we think about Outpost contributors.
While our readers are fairly split, Outpost leans male and leans New York. Have an idea on interior design that all genders should know about? Great. New restaurant in LA that the world needs to hear about? Great. We are always open to new ideas — however, here are a few things that work:

What did we miss? You tell us.
DO
Write about those who live a life of intention.
Short and sweet — attention spans are waning. Every word written should hit the reader over the head with value this isn’t your diary.
Make it pretty — photos, formatting, etc.
Include humor.
Make it sexy — sex sells.
We have a special place in our heart for East Coast creators, writers, etc.
DON’T
Write about politics… that’s pretty much it.
Interview Series: Life of Intention
We are looking for someone to run our Interview Series, Life of Intention. While a background in writing is a plus, any driven individual with the organization of a mother with five children should be able to tackle this — that’s kind of the bar.
Compensation (For Now)
Unfortunately, as of 2026 Outpost contributors are not compensated financially. While we look forward to that reality, those who write for Outpost do so for the love of the game.
We provide:
Exposure in our weekly newsletter (1,000 readers)
Social infrastructure
Graphic design
General support
Really fun parties
PS: We are launching a physical newspaper in March — if that’ll get your parents off your back for a few months.
How to Pitch
We welcome once-off pieces as well as recurring series, whether monthly or weekly.
To pitch, email info@outpostnyc.co with:
your ideal headline
the full body of the piece (or as close as you have)
If the idea isn’t fully baked or if it’s more visual, or a video concept send it anyway and let’s talk. Every submission is read and voted on by our current team of writers.
2026 is about to be a lot of fun join us.
Cheers,
