Best Martinis in NYC

Hillstone Park Avenue

A classic joint that pretty much invented the American restaurant style you see all over New York today.

Emmett’s

Just learned Emmett’s does a $9 martini happy hour.

Café Carmellini

A gorgeous space.

The Grill

Actually, no—this is a gorgeous space. Being in the Seagram Building, the interior is landmarked. This place rocks and no one talks about it.

The Polo Bar

Nothing to point out here you haven’t already heard.

Monkey Bar

Sneaky also the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had.

The Portrait Bar

Never been. Everyone raves about it—I’ll do better.

Raoul’s

Walk into Raoul’s on any given night and you’ll see five-plus martini glasses iced down. A lovely, lovely touch and visual.

Brooklyn

Here are two spots across the river to keep the Brooklyn folks happy (but martinis are Manhattan—y’all can have farmers markets):

Bernie’s

Deux Chats

What did I forget?
